Product Description

The AirTag product line was developed through the need for a smaller, lightweight, inexpensive Argos satellite transmitter for avian studies. While there are many options for collecting this sort of data, Desert Star has worked with researchers to take their concerns into account. With a smaller size and lower cost, the AirTag outshines the rest.

AirTag devices are powered by rechargeable super capacitors, which are given energy through rigid solar panels mounted at the top of the tag. When the solar panels make contact with a light source (generally, the sun), the super capacitors are given enough power within a single minute to send out an Argos transmission. Because of this, the tag is capable of transmitting throughout the entire day; translating to approximately 500 transmissions per day (80 Argos locations) in an open, sunny area.
