SharkEye™ series intelligent digital underwater cameras are in particular useful for sea floor mapping, autonomous observation stations, scientific imagery based measurements systems and high-resolution underwater inspections:

  • The cameras are available with field-selectable dual image sensors, including a color and ultra low light / night image sensor.
  • SharkEye™’s ‘Single Photon Detector’ (SPD) sensor operates at light levels down to tens of micro Lux.  The extreme sensitivity minimizes motion blur in mapping operations, enables low-impact marine life observations and greatly reduces light requirements.
  • The autonomous mode, including pre-programmed image acquisition schedules, image annotation capabilities and up to 200GB storage on a hard disk module supports unattended observation stations and AUV/UUV operations alike.
  • Full remote-operation and image retrieval capabilities via a twisted wire pair (RS-485) for ROV and diver based inspections.
  • SharkEye™’s multi-camera synchronization capability (up to 64 cameras) supports stereo (3D) imaging and volumetric measurements.
  • A high frame rates of up to 13 frames per second enables motion studies and mapping at fast cruising speeds.
  • SLED-1 high-intensity / high frame-rate LED strobe yields efficient lighting for mapping and observation applications.
  • Extreme macro imaging for detail inspections (target distance down to 0.02m) is available through the unique camera internal motorized focus mechanism.
  • Multiple housings, including 100m depth rated Delrin (corrosion resistant), 300m and 1000m aluminum with field exchangeable lens and sensor selection system and 6000m rated titanium housing.
