Electronic Technician Desert Star Systems is a leader in specialty underwater tracking and positioning systems for the industrial, military, and scientific industry. We are now expanding into the digital camera market, offering high-performance cameras for underwater, land and air based applications. The critical nature of our customers applications demand quality workmanship. Our growing production needs require efficient and competent workers. Desert star is a fun and challenging place to work, because we are still relatively small the workload can be fairly diverse. We are looking for an employee who can work independently and with minimal supervision. There are few documented instructions and good judgment and common sense are required. High quality, speed, and cleanliness are a must and part of the job description. Applicants should have about 2.5-5 years experience in the industry troubleshooting electronic circuits and assembling both electronic and electromechanical devices. You must be comfortable reading schematics, have a good understanding of basic circuits and be familiar with a broad range of electronic components. Having a formal education or a degree in the field can help and a high school diploma is a must. Prior experience reworking fine-pitch ICs on PCBs is required. Being comfortable with the use of PCs and software applications such as Microsoft word, Netscape, Protel, PC/MRP and other custom software applications will help and the eventual basic understanding of all these applications required. Be aware that this job will initially include significant production work.

This is a salaried position, with a 40-hour workweek. Overtime will be required when a tight delivery schedule demands.

Electronic Assembler

We are a small manufacturer of underwater navigation systems and digital cameras for scientific, military and industrial applications. Our growing business now needs a person to assist in the final assembly and production testing of this equipment. The job offers much variety, including electronic and mechanical assembly, equipment testing using a computerized system and specialized tasks such as pressure testing and sensor calibration. We are looking for a person who can combine very high quality work with good productivity. We are a small company with little supervision, so you will be expected to work on your own. You should have prior electronic assembly experience and some computer operating knowledge, though we may consider an inexperienced person who clearly is a fast starter. Reliable work performance and attendance, honesty, and a positive attitude are of course base requirements.
